Little Keyboard Music Maker

Miya has been bumped up to Keyboard class at music. She enjoyed it tremendously much and has been busy the whole day practicing and telling me about the music and so on. She is even going around making “DO-RE-ME” kind of songs….. Um yes. Okay. Well…. here we go – ROCK ON!

It’s like a game in my mouth!

After having a handful of berries (I *SO* love fresh berry season – the girls have berries all day long!), Miya said “You know, this is so delicious, it’s like the berries are having a game in my mouth.”

Admonished

Today, after Ricky got angry with Leia and told her firmly “No! Do not mess inside.”, Miya piped up and said: “No Daddy. You know if you talk like that to Leia it is how she will talk to her children one day.” Um. Okay. Reproached.

Music in my ears

Today at Leia’s music class, I told Teacher Cherise that Miya had composed her own song (s) over December and that she played Twinkle Twinkle on her new keyboard by ear. She was so impressed that she asked if we wanted to move Miiya to a keyboard class…. Wow! Of course, we’ll first go see [...]

Date Day

What a fantastic day! Miya and Rick went off Geocaching for their special date day and Leia and I just spent some one-on-one time together – playing, tickling and general rough housing on the bed, building puzzles, drawing pictures and pasting pictures. And then for our lunch out, we went to MSquared for pizza – [...]

Acronym

Miya has decided to write stories in acronyms. She would disappear for a bit and come back sporting a paper scribbled with letters which would make no sense and then she’d proceed to tell you what it said – using the letter jotted down as the first letter for each word, e.g. L C C [...]

Haywire

It has all gone a bit difficult the last few weeks with my little Miya. I read on a few sites that the constant contradicting and complete and utter emotional breakdown when things don’t go their way is very typical for a five to six year old. And of course even more so with my [...]

Playtime

Today we played and played and played… We played hide and seek, chase and tickle, with paper dolls and blocks, cars and top trump cards. We played with keyboards and we baked. We danced and sang and laughed. We played outside in the sandpit and in the water splashpool, we blew bubbles and entertained friends. [...]

Homeschooling starts on 1 January!

Oh wow! Love learning with my kiddies – so many interesting traditions on New Year’s across the globe. What an awesome and amazing creature the human being is for thinking of all these wonderful celebratory customs over the years.
